Ultrasound is a therapeutic modality that has been around since the 1940's. It is applied using a round wand head and often gel to reduce resistance. It will stimulate the tissue under the skin to promote the healing process. The 3 main benefits include: speeding up the healing process by increasing blood flow to the area, reducing pain and inflammation, and massaging the tendons/ligaments in the area which will reduce scar tissue and decrease strain. Treatment is normally 6-12 minutes long, and has no pain associated with the procedure. It's a great protocol for sprains, carpal tunnel, plantar fascitis, scar tissue, and elbow problems.
