The Business of Tithing

“A tithe of everything from the land, whether grain from the soil or fruit from the trees, belongs to the Lord; it is holy to the Lord” – Leviticus 27:30

“Will a man rob God?  Yet you are robbing Me!  But you say, ‘How have we robbed You?’ In tithes and offerings.  You are cursed with a curse, for you are robbing Me, the whole nation of you!  Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, so that there may be food in My house, and test Me now in this,”says the Lord of hosts, “if I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you a blessing until it overflows.” – Malachi 3:8-10

The idea of tithing has been around for thousands of years.  In fact, it’s not as much an idea as it is a command.  Most Christians today apply this to their personal lives.  My wife and I for example; we give 10% of our income to our local church we attend.  We don’t really see this as an option, but do so out of obedience to scripture.  However, there aren’t too many businesses that follow this same model of giving.  Sure, there may be special fundraising days where a business or organization will give a percentage of their profits from that day’s sales towards a particular cause.  But what if a business decided to give 10% of their income EVERY DAY they operate?  The founder and owner of Community Chiropractic, Dr. Terrance Waggoner, decided that’s exactly what he was going to do with his business.  After all, everything we are given is the Lord’s anyway.  We are simply stewards, caretakers if you will, of the gifts we are given (time, money, resources, relationships, etc…)  Now, it’s not like we can just write a big check, address it to God, and expect anything to happen to it.  There are ways however that we can put money towards taking care of the things that are dear to God’s heart.  For instance…orphaned children.  James 1:27 says this, “Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world”.  Dr. Waggoner and his wife, Juli, adopted a beautiful girl named Anna from Ethiopia a few years ago.  This marked the beginning of their journey to do what they can to help care for the millions of orphans around the world.  This is how he has decided he wants to give back to God and others out of what he has been blessed with.

So, every time you walk through the doors of Community Chiropractic & Wellness Center, you should know that 10% of every dollar you spend will go towards helping fight the global orphan crisis.  CCWC is a proud sponsor of Village to Village International, Lifesong for Orphans, Asia’s Hope, the Adami-Tulu Project, and Awake & Alive.  In the months to come, we will be shedding more light on what each of these organizations do specifically.  Please check back regularly or subscribe to receive updates.  In the meantime, you can help fight the global orphan crisis by making Community Chiropractic & Wellness Center your choice for all of your health and wellness needs!

Your wellness is our goal,

Aaron Waggoner, Director of Public Relations and Fitness
